Evaluating the strengths, weaknesses, and progress of the players on your team is an important Coach's responsibility. There's no doubt you do this as a natural part of your practices and games. You see a player struggling with a skill and you focus some of your energy to help the player improve. It's Coaching 101. There's another aspect to Player Evaluations that is more formal and is used for purposes beyond your team and the individual player. We use your evaluations to determine player placement on our Select Teams (Division I and II), provide other coaches with a player performance history, and develop Team Strength Reports for ECYSA so they can determine proper team placement in the league. Starting the Fall 2011 season we are collecting Player Evaluations Online. Having the Evaluations in electronic format gives our Team Formation Committee better and easier access to player performance data. Evaluation data will be archived and available for future review, helping us improve our evaluation process over time. You must submit at least 1 Evaluation per player per season but you are welcome to submit as many as you like throughout the season. In this section we will provide you information and instruction to help you evaluate your players and promote consistency among all coaches in the way they evaluate players. Please revisit this page soon for more information. |
